Oh Geez. I didn't expect to log onto deviantart and find thousands of messages. I thought there was a technical error. I don't know how or where to respond to thank everyone for favoriting, commenting, and/or choosing my piece "Smokestacks" for a DD so I'm finally going to just use this journal entry feature. I'm very overwhelmed and excited and confused and grateful. So thank you all again very much, you're very kind. Also, feel free to look at my other artwork and/or make suggestions.

About Smokestacks:

It was an assignment for a painting class. I was supposed to use alternative materials to paint at least half of it but otherwise subject matter was open ended. We had to paint it on a piece of masonite board which I kind of like better than canvas I think. I ended up having a lot of left over greenish paint from an earlier project so that explains the coloring. I think it works.
A couple people asked about how I used a screw to paint. It wasn't highly involved actually. I mostly just dipped it in paint and used it for the white specks and the light for the street lamps.
The spatula was used to the actual smokestacks, giving it a neat effect. I stole it from work and I really enjoyed using it to paint with so I just kept it.
Also the background was painted with a paintbrush.
